BAND-AID FIX

Tex got the computer patched up and we'll see how much more mileage he can milk out of this relic. I'm think'n not much. But, that's me. Just say'n.

Not nearly the success with Nellie as with the computer. I am still running slowly, freeze up often and am generally good for nothing. Tex might have to turn me in real soon on a newer model. You think the old boy could handle the newest, sleekest, fastest female on the market today? (The thought makes me chuckle!)

If the 'puter had to peter out, this was as good a time as any. The rock work is a slow process. Each stone has to be chipped and chiseled to fit. Was a little bit like watching grass grow.

The stone on the house and in the house is complete now. I'll take pictures next time out. Oh, let me see.....when could that possibly be? LIKE, TOO SOON. Back and forth, back and forth. It's one big blur. Here are pictures from the past couple weeks.

They took the texture off the beam. Sheesh! The vaulted part of this ceiling is going to be wood....like the wood in the picture of the underside of the overhang outside....stained, of course.

This whole wall is stone now, not just stone below the beams. The tall side is going to have two vertical wrought iron racks for wine and the other side is for ?????. Both niches are lit. The trim guy is going to put a wood counter top on the ????? side. The bottom of the wine side is stone 18" from the floor. They didn't do that initially........like they weren't going to put stone on the bottom of the other niche? Go figure!

You can see the texture on the wall below. WHY did they texture where cabinetry is going to be? WHY no stone below the fireplace. WHY no hearth? WHY do I have to deal with this?

There are going to be big wood posts on top of the stone bases in front.....coach lights on either side of the door. All the wood trim on the exterior is going be dark like the braces on the garage in the picture above. Oh, that vent on the front of the garage is going to be painted...we won't leave it like that! And, that full glass door is a temporary door. Don't ask me why the temporary garage doors are full glass. I'm tired of WHY!

When we make the trip out on Saturday, we should see they have started on the retaining walls, steps, fireplace, flagstone patio and the steel base for the floating deck. I think I'm most excited about this part of the house than anything else. If it wasn't for those dang rattlers, I think I just might live out in the back.
This is me and my Pardner, Phil the Phenomenal Phoreman, planning the patio. I would not be able to get through this without my PPPP. When we are finished with the house, I'm going to start the adoption process. I just know my two boys would love to have a little brother! I'm adopting Phil, not Pedro (with the measuring tape).......don't want to deal with ICE!

  1. Ya know, I was really liking the stone idea even before we started seeing pictures of it. But now, I LOVE the stone!! It is very impressive and it looks like the workmanship is phantastic (like Phil!).
