STOP ME!

Tex and I are shopping for furniture for the ranch house. Somebody better rein me in quickly. This is the dining table we are going to buy. If you look closely, you may be able to detect a teensy, tiny, itsy-bitsy Lone Star carved on the back of the chairs. Hey, I scaled it back! I took those chairs from a table that had the Lone Star on a big square at the top of the table legs. I paired them with this table which has NO Lone Star. I promise, this is the end of the kitchty. I know, I know, that isn't a word. But, it is now because I say so. It means "Texas Tacky." Don't panic....I am not buying the center piece. Now, THAT is just plain tacky! You can't see much of it, but the rug is ours, too. Whew, no Lone Star there!

This is a bed for an upstairs guest room. You can look as long as you want. No Lone Star.

Here's the bed for the other guest room. Look.......no Lone Star! That's the pillow sham of the bedding I am going to use for this room.

In case you don't believe me, look, it is NOT kitchty.

Just a bit of advice for anybody who is thinking about building a house. Do NOT.....I repeat.....DO NOT build a house and make decisions when the temp creeps up over 100 degrees. Your brain gets fried and you do dumb things. After 4 hours in the heat last week I told the electrician to hang 100 watt bulbs in the center of every room because I couldn't decide what went where. On Friday, in another heat induced cerebral meltdown, I told Tremendously Talented Travis (the cabinet man) to just do cinder block and boards for everything.

When we left the ranch we wandered down the road and went to get some B-B-Q for lunch. Next door was a place that makes furniture. I saw this Lone Star chair and begged Tex to buy it for me. It is perfect for the front porch. He said he'd think about it.

  1. The beds, oh the beds..............I can't wait to sleep on them! I was looking for the bed tray for the breakfast-in-bed mornings. It would be nice to have the Lone Star in the middle of the tray. Tex just has to buy the chair for you!
